FEBRI, the graduate school and research institute of the Faculty of Economics and Business has one PhD position in the field of Regional organization for diagnosis and treatment of acute stroke available.

Project description
The national consortium CONTRAST-IMPULSE develops innovations in acute stroke care, aimed at patients with a cerebral infarction or a cerebral haemorrhage. The consortium is led by all university hospitals and top clinical hospitals in the Netherlands, and is subsidised by the Dutch Heart Foundation and Brain Foundation. The consortium investigates diagnostics and treatment for patients with an acute cerebral infarction or cerebral haemorrhage. This vacancy focuses on developing organisational models for acute neurovascular disorders. Important themes are logistical organisation of regional care and prediction of treatment outcomes for individual patients. Research activities involve collecting (prognostic and care logistics) data, analysing the data, developing prognostic and simulation models and writing scientific articles.

The PhD position is embedded in the research programme Operations of FEB’s Research Institute, while building on a co-operation of the University of Groningen (Faculty of Economics & Business), University Medical Center Groningen (Departments of Neurology and Epidemiology), and Erasmus MC University Medical Center (Department of Public Health). The project will be supervised by Dr D.J. van der Zee (University of Groningen), Dr M. Uyttenboogaart (University Medical Center Groningen), Dr M.M.H. Lahr (University Medical Center Groningen) and Dr A. Mikolic (Erasmus MC University Medical Center). The PhD defence will take place at the University of Groningen.
