Job description

As a researcher, you will play a key role in developing and implementing the DNPP’s research programme. Your responsibilities will include conducting independent and team-based scientific research, producing publications for national and international forums, contributing to the further development of the DNPP website and helping to acquire external research funds. You are a building block in a team under construction and are closely involved in strengthening the DNPP's position as a knowledge centre on Dutch political parties and representative democracy. You will also carry out this mission in the outside world through teaching, delivering lectures, providing information, and participating in public debates.

If you wish, you can combine this position with an additional teaching appointment at the Chair Group of European Politics and Society at the Faculty of Arts for a fixed period of time.

The organization of the Documentation Centre for Dutch Political Parties (DNPP) is embedded in the University of Groningen Library (UB). Conducting academic research into Dutch political parties (whereby some of the results are published in a series of compilations and monographs about the Dutch parties) is not the DNPP’s only task; it is also responsible for systematically collecting publications (digital and otherwise) by and about these parties and making them available to wider audiences, and for supplying general and academic information about the parties. Over the past ten years, the DNPP has developed into a knowledge and information platform regarding Dutch politics and political parties (for more information, visit www.dnpp.nl).

The University Library Groningen (UB) is the information hub of the University of Groningen (RUG). As a center of expertise and service, the UB is innovative, professional and customer-oriented. The UB uses the possibilities of ICT to increase the availability of information, promote the university's research and make scientific work and knowledge open and accessible to future generations.
