We are looking for an experienced, certified paediatric surgeon with experience in paediatric hepatobiliary surgery. Established experience with research is mandatory. A demonstrated affinity with education and surgical training is recommended. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who is fluent in Dutch or can be certified in short period of time. Postdoctoral scientist Translational vision science and ophthalmology

We have an immediate position available for a postdoctoral translational vision scientist with an interest in physiological optics, mobility, and eye-movement research, as well as ophthalmic testing. We are seeking someone with a proven track record in one or more of the following: psychophysics, optics, computational modelling, eye-movement research, extended reality, ophthalmic testing, including experience in developing stimuli and analyses (e.g. Matlab- or python-based). You need to be a self-driven team player with an interest in both applied and fundamental vision research and be able to communicate well with both clinical and industry partners.

The overall aim of the offered position is to do research into understanding the role of vision in enabling healthy and independent living. In this context, your main tasks and responsibilities will be to perform research related to mobility using VR, as well as eye-movement-based perimetric techniques. Part of your time will be available for you to develop and pursue your own research interests, in line with the above aim.

You will be part of a team of highly motivated vision scientists and ophthalmologists, who are working on a variety of topics with the field of translational vision science and ophthalmology.

You will closely collaborate with staff members of our department and industry partners, other postdocs, co-supervise PhD- and master-students, contribute to our teaching in perception, biomedical engineering, and visual neuroscience, and maintain and adhere to lab and institutional protocols, such as ethical guidelines and data-management. This position will be funded primarily through industry grants.

Opleiding tot Intensive Care verpleegkundige

- Start: maandag 7 december ‘26 met een inwerkperiode van ongeveer zes week op de Intensive Care Volwassenen, in januari ‘27 gevolgd door de Basis Acute Zorg (BAZ) en twee vervolg IC-modules: de Kern en Specifiek.
- Duur: minimaal 18 maanden, waarin je 32 tot 36 uur per week werkt en leert.
- Leren via EPA’s, zodat je stap voor stap groeit en waarbij je theorie direct toepast in de praktijk.

Researcher - staff member Pathology and Medical Biology

Based on your affinity for and expertise in immunology and oncology, you will be involved in scientific research within the research line of tumor immunology and lymphomas. The other four main research lines of the department concern solid tumors, translational models of tissue damage and regeneration, molecular endotypes in chronic diseases, and immune-mediated diseases.

The research in the department has a strong translational character and aims at identifying biological mechanisms that contribute to disease and regaining health. The department operates at the interface between clinic (diagnostics and treatment) and biology, with excellent cross-pollination within the department, the cluster, the UMCG as well as regionally and (inter)nationally. Within this dynamic environment, you will contribute to education and training as a teacher, and you will also participate in management tasks.

Researcher Position in ‘Father HERO’ Paternal Determinants of Childhood Overwei

Overweight remains a global health concern. We seek a junior researcher/PhD candidate for the project “Father Hero” on paternal, intergenerational determinants of childhood overweight and development, compared to maternal, intergenerational determinants, and assess potential mediating pathways through telomer length, financed by the Centre for Childhood Health, Denmark.

You will conduct the project based on an existing study design. You will manage and analyze rich intergenerational TRAILS and TRAILS Next data (https://www.trails.nl/en), and gain experience with generating telomere length data from biological samples of young children at Hasselt University (Belgium), and conduct advanced statistical analyses. You will publish findings in scientific journals, present at national and international conferences, participate in scientific meetings, and communicate results to stakeholders such as parents, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and researchers.

Research Scientist in Photopharmacology

Charalampos Tsoumpas, Dr. Peter Dendooven and Prof. Wiktor Szymanski who are members of a recently awarded research program (total amount over €18M) generously funded by the Ubbo Emmius Fonds led by the Health Technology Research and Innovation Cluster to work together for resolving major challenges in the field of healthcare.

What will you do
You will play a key role in executing a highly innovative research activity in the field of photopharmacology and contribute significantly to the supervision of several bachelor, and master students.

You will work on the development of novel approaches to translate, make more efficient and optimise photopharmacology by using external radiation (e.g. X-rays) and nanoscintillators. Your work is expected to lead to conference presentations, peer-reviewed journal articles, open-source software, international patent applications and eventually clinical products. Furthermore, you will receive mentorship and support to attract research funding to build your own research team on this topic.

AIOS Anesthesiologie

De opleiding tot anesthesioloog duurt 5 jaar en wordt in het eerste en in het derde t/m het vijfde jaar doorgebracht in het UMCG. Een gedeelte van de opleiding wordt doorgebracht in een perifere opleidingskliniek in de regio. In het laatste gedeelte van opleiding kun je je verdiepen in 1 van de 3 uitstroomprofielen: Peri-operatief, pijn geneeskunde of intensive care. Binnen het uistroomprofiel peri-operatief bieden wij de volgende aandachtsgebieden: thoraxanesthesiologie, kinderanesthesiologie, neuroanesthesiologie, obstetrische anesthesiologie, urgentiegeneeskunde en wetenschap.

Echografist / MBB’er

Als echolaborant bij het UMCG:
- Voer je zelfstandig echo-onderzoeken uit in ons echocentrum.
- Stel je zelf je verslag op, dat wordt geautoriseerd door een radioloog.
- Werk je voornamelijk met abdominale echografie, met focus op hoogcomplexe zorg (zoals post-transplantatiecontroles).
- Krijg je de kans om je verder te specialiseren in o.a. hoofd-hals of kinderechografie en eventueel echogeleid infuusprikken.
- Draag je actief bij aan diagnostiek, behandeling, onderzoek én onderwijs binnen de afdeling Radiologie.
