The key role of the QA Manager is to drive the standards within the factory ensuring all products that go out the door are safe and to specification. Key focus being placed on food safety, complaints targets/levels, micro & environmental issues, product quality, GMP/fabrication & adherence to procedures. Be preventative not reactive. Always putting the customer needs first & reacting to their requests/issues in a timely & concise manner. Building ‘Quality capability’ across the site through training, culture development and role modelling.


• Management of the Food Safety, Quality and HACCP systems to ensure that they are systematic, comprehensive, thorough, fully implemented, effective and maintained.
• The QA manager reports to the Quality Assurance Director FI&A, with day-to-day input and guidance from the Site Manager and also functional input and guidance from the Senior Quality Manager FI&A who is based in the Region.
• As a key member of the Site Management Team, contribute to the general management and decision making, and activity of the Site Management Team.
• Responsible for QA & QC processes/systems, QA/QC team consists of 4 fte.
• Management of process control checks, raw material / finished product testing and release procedures so as to ensure that products manufactured meet the specification and standards that have been agreed or are expected.
• Management of the internal, GMP and Hygiene auditing systems.
• Actively promote a quality improvement culture and contribute to the development of quality systems and strategies.
• Manage, direct and coordinate the investigation of complaints relating to site production and co-manufacturers including the necessary reporting, communication and corrective actions, as per the site customer complaint procedure.
• Manage the process and make decisions in respect of non-conforming product, and rework of rejected stocks. Manage and drive completion of the RCA/CAPA process.
• Develop, manage and coordinate the training needs identification process for Food hygiene standards, HACCP, Hygiene training, and/or all other prevailing quality related requirements and standards for all staff on the site.
• Co-ordinate and ensure the provision of information to customers in a timely and efficient manner (certificates, reports, general enquiries, etc).
• Responsibility for managing and achieving the departmental budget and all prevailing departmental Key Performance Indicators. Assist in the development and implementation of quality KPI’s for the site.
• Ensuring implementation and maintenance of safety systems and – procedures on site, meeting health and environment standards of occupational health and safety legislation.


• Qualification is a Bachelor/University degree, preferably in the direction of food technology or similar and have broad experience in food or similar manufacturing environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, coaching and conflict management skills.
• The ability to work effectively with many requirements, under time pressure and meeting deadlines.
• The ability to work effectively in a matrix structure.
• To be very structured and disciplined in adherence to standards set. To be an example to all team members of how things should be done.
• Knowledge of the FSSC 22000 Global Food Safety Standard and ISO 14001.
• Experience with SAP QM as ERP-system.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office tools.
• Excellent command of English language.
